Reflection on project

With how my project turned out, overall I think I am happy with it. I thought that I did a really good job explaining the movement and the giving the information needed to help others along the way. Now to give a better idea at what I thought, I decided to make some memes to answer some of the questions that we were given to answer.

What is your intended argument/thesis/message, and why/how does it respond to a kairotic moment?

Who is your intended audience? Why? How might your project have broader audience appeal outside beyond that intended audience?

In what context (hypothetically where and when) would your audience encounter your argument?

What message or rhetorical effect do you hope your intended audience is left with after reading/viewing your project?

End with a reflection on what you’ve learned about multimodality from completing this project and course, and connect this to the goals of a liberal arts education as you understand them.

Update #6

I am constantly trying to edit and fix my iMovie project and trying to find out what to use for the video and what not to use. I am trying to add my own commentary to the movie, but I having a little trouble in trying to find the right words to use to talk about what I want to talk about. I’m still sort of worried about how to say what I want to say in the right terms in order to not offend anyone, so that is the biggest problem as of now.

Update #5

Well I have all my interviews done and I have started my editing process for my movie. All I really need to do is record a few things for informational purposes on the Black Lives Matter movement and the placement of the clips in the movie. Though I might need to redo an interview because of tilting my camera.

Update #4

As of now I already have my interviews lined up for my project. I have on today and one on Tuesday for the two teachers that had gotten back to me. The other hasn’t and I’m not a hundred percent sure that I will need the third teacher’s interview. As of now, all I need to do is get the interviews done and then over break record my piece for the movie an edit it then. There may be a possibility to get the last interview after break, but that is highly unlikely.

Update #3

As of now, I have all of my interview questions ready to go and I still need to hear back from two of my interviewees if I can interview them in the first place, I still need to set up the time for one of the professors and I need to go out and rent the equipment needed for it too.

Also my plan to make my content more accessible to the people who have disabilities are as followed, creating close captioning for the people whoa are deaf and also since I’m making a video for my project, the people who are blind could hear the video and for the pictures, I could have a way to explain what the pictures look like for those who can’t see.

Project update #2

As of now I have a good idea of what I’m planning to do for my project and I already have a planned out some aspects of my project already. First of I have a basic storyboard of what my move will look like.

IMG_0725

Its a little simple, but it works fine with my project as I’m planning to do mostly interviews and still shots for it.

Second I complied all the assets that I need for the project. First I have to email all the teachers that I plan to be interviewed for the project and later have them sign the paper when  they agree to be interviewed and I go and do that. Next I still have to get my equipment and other media needs fro m the school. Next, I have to figure out an improve my questions to ask the teacher for the interviews.. Finally, I plan to only use myself and the interviewers for the project, but my face won’t be seen. I’m still unsure if I’m going to need a cameraman or not.

Finally, I have my timeline planned out for the project. I’m first going to try an get all my interview done by next week and, if not, the week after break. During break, I’m going to find some images and get some voice recordings to put into my movie. Lastly, I would use the reaming time to edit, add, and fix anything else that I needed.

Project update #1

Wha t I have in the basic stages of the project, are jest more questions then answers. I have planned of what my question for the different interviews could be like, but after talking to one of my roommates. I’m starting to wonder if what I have planned is going to work and I won’t get much backlash from others. other than that that’s all I really have so far and I plan in class today to work on the questions for the interviews and figure out whether or not to do the interviews with the students.

Final project start

My topic for my final multimodal project will be on the BLackLiveMatter movement and how it has influenced media and people  today.

With the topic I am doing, I can see that a lot of the arguments that are made rely on the use of social media an the use of news stories to help show other what is going on in the world. Most of the audience I’m going to present to are the people who sympathize with the people who were killed and are usually against the use of violence to solve problems (young adults more than likely). My primary claim to the audience is that people still need to help go through all the story’s and post that people are use to seeing and that they need to see more on how regular people today are influenced by this movement. Some of the points I would make to support this would be that people are easily influenced by the media around them and react against them because of the emotion behind it, thus making my project more of an emotional appeal work rather than logical one. I would find artifacts that would pull on the emotionally aspect that they provide. As an end result, I want people to come to better terms with how they react to a certain post, picture, and even facts given about any event and not try to react violently or cause an outrage on the web and as a result cause more problems. All I want is to have people spread that idea as well thus preventing anymore harm coming upon the U.S. around this topic.

Project Progress

As have learned from the massive information for my topic, I have learned a lot in how the BlackLivesMatter campaign has grown and changed over time since the whole Micheal Brown incident.

From the posts that I looked through, I saw that a lot of the earlier posts were about how horrible the incident was and how controversial the case was. It sparked a new wave of anti-racism support, seeing as many people believed that this incident was an act of racial stereotyping on the police officer’s part who thought that Micheal Brown was dangerous because he was black. This also sparked more protests in the wake of the incident in trying to stop police brutality. These incidents follow to separate ideologies that in some cases, people believe them to be truthful: Black people tend to be more violent and prone to violence and that police are more likely to use deadly force when threatened.

While both have come into controversy before, it has been a long time since either of them have made it center stage before. Both of these ideologies have now exploded into a variety of different aftereffects of the incident, like more cases of black people getting killed by police officers, like Freddie Gray, and retaliations of people trying to get revenge on the murdered people, like the case of the two cops that were killed in response. It comes to show you how one little event can spark an entire movement, but we have seen that multiple times before in the past. Even if this movement has evolved from what it intended to do, it still kept its basic principles in tack and is still moving forward
